- The Labour Party’s internal crisis has taken a dramatic turn as two parallel National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings reveal a widening rift within the party. One faction, led by embattled National Chairman Julius Abure, is meeting at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, where he has threatened to sanction Governor Alex Otti and Peter Obi over alleged anti-party activities.
On the other hand, the Peter Obi/Alex Otti faction, which held its NEC meeting on April 9, 2025, is openly challenging Abure’s leadership and raising serious questions about legitimacy, control, and the party's future.
Tokunbo Peters, the State Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party in Ogun State, and Chibuzo Okereke, a political commentator and legislative strategist, will join us to analyse this unfolding political battle.
